Foreward

This poem is the first in the #earworms collection - poems inspired by the seemingly random music that gets stuck in my head from time to time.

Broken. The life of the paranoid -
Lured away under blue-black sky,

Awash with thoughts one should avoid.

Contentment’s not my friend, because I

Know that they are out to get me.
Sure of an elusive threat
Around the corner. All at sea
Because my mind won’t free me yet.

Brutal measures I’ve employed,
And still no comfort from the thoughts I

Take as travellers with me.
Help me to forget.
